AAS Display Garden Exemplary Education Award Rules

All-America Selections invites your AAS Display Garden to enter your most successful 2008 educational event for the opportunity of national recognition for an exemplary education award. We welcome you to enter your event materials.

WHO CAN ENTER:

AAS Display Gardens featuring AAS Winners in a field day or open house event are encouraged to enter. Entrants may be AAS Flower Display Gardens, AAS Vegetable Display Gardens, or AAS Display Gardens that feature both Flowers and Vegetables.

CRITERIA FOR ENTERING:


Your AAS Display Garden must feature an educational program, open house or field day during 2008 that informs the public about the AAS program and AAS Winners.

  • A description of your event and how AAS Winners were featured is required.
  • Sample of materials distributed at your 2008 event are required.
  • The number of event attendees must be provided.
  • Photos of your garden and your event are required.
  • Only one entry will be allowed per year from each official AAS Display Garden.
  • Previous contest winners may not enter.

CRITERIA FOR JUDGING:

75% event substance, educational content, and quality of event publicity

25% presentation style, originality, materials and garden display.

NUMBER OF WINNERS:

This award will be presented to one AAS Display Garden for each category. The three categories are based on your estimated number of garden visitors for the growing season during which AAS Winners were featured to the public.

Category I: Up to 4,999 visitors during the growing season
Category II: 5,000 to 49,999 visitors during the growing season
Category III: 50,000 or more visitors during the growing season

JURY:

A selected committee of three AAS representatives will determine the winners.

ENTRY DEADLINE:

November 19, 2008

WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT:

Winners will be notified January 21, 2009

AWARD:

The winners will be awarded an “AAS Exemplary Education Award” plaque. AAS will submit a press release to the media and contest winners will receive national recognition in the 2009 Proving Grounds Brochure and on the AAS website www.all-americaselections.org.
