Criteria to Qualify for an Official
All-America Selections Display Garden

An AAS Display Garden is a public or privately funded garden open to the public that grows AAS Winner plants (from seed) in an attractive outdoor landscaped setting using horticulturally sound practices which beautify the environment.

The following criteria must be met for a garden to receive an application to become an AAS Display Garden:

  1. The location must have grown and displayed annuals for at least two years. AAS Award Winners are incorporated into an established Display Garden Program.

  2. A greenhouse or access to one is necessary to start seeds and grow on to transplant size. AAS only provides seeds.

  3. The applicant must be responsible for the Display Garden and the maintenance of the garden. The applicant must be employed by or supervise the garden that will incorporate the AAS Winners. Master Gardeners must have an extension agent complete the application.

  4. Irrigation must be readily available.

  5. Garden space must be allocated to grow and maintain from 40 to 50 varieties.

  6. The garden must be open to the public and conduct an "open house" or "field day" publicized in the local media. The garden may not be located at a private residence.

  7. There should not be another AAS Display Garden in close proximity to the applicant garden.

  8. The garden must be located in North America.

Submit to AAS a written accounting of how your garden meets these criteria. Describe your display garden location and features or attractions you consider important. Include garden photographs and any media publicity you have received.
